POPULAR INFORMATION
Propecia (finasteride)
It is a synthetic drug that is chemically related to a chemical known as 5α-reductase inhibitor. It inhibits the activity of the enzyme 5α-reductase, which is responsible for converting testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is a major cause of hair loss in men. Studies have shown that finasteride, a medication used to treat hair loss in men, can increase the levels of DHT in the scalp. A clinical trial showed that men who took a 1 mg dose of finasteride daily showed a significant increase in hair density, while the placebo group showed no change. Finasteride can also be used in combination with other hair loss treatments such as minoxidil and finasteride.
WHAT IS FINASTERIDE?
FINASTERIDE is used to treat male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia) or male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia) in men. It helps to prevent further hair loss by lowering DHT levels and increasing hair growth.
HOW FINASTERIDE WORKS
Finasteride works by inhibiting the activity of 5α-reductase. It is a synthetic chemical, which is a type II 5α-reductase inhibitor that does not contain testosterone, the same type of hormone that is found naturally in men. Finasteride is used to treat male pattern baldness, a condition in which a woman's hair grows shorter or thinner at the crown or mid-scalp area. It is used in the treatment of enlarged prostate gland (benign prostatic hyperplasia) in men, a condition in which prostate gland enlarges. Finasteride is also used to treat male pattern baldness in men. It works by blocking the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body. DHT causes the hair follicles to shrink and eventually stop producing hair. It is important to note that finasteride does not stop the production of DHT. It is important to use finasteride consistently to maintain healthy hair growth.

Learn more aboutMinoxidilis a prescription medication that's available to all with a valid prescription. It's part of a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (PDE5i). PDE5is a group of blood pressure medicines that work by increasing the amount of a substance known as cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). PDE5is created by breaking down a substance known as phosphodiesterase type 5 into guanosine triacists, and it can stop cGMP from working anymore. Phosphodiesterase 5 is a naturally occurring enzyme that breaks down cGMP, causing the blood vessels to dilate, and this causes the blood vessel to become more blood flow for the heart. This increases the amount of blood that reaches the lungs and the ability of the heart to pump blood through the lungs. It is available in various forms, including topical applications, oral tablets and injectable solutions.

It generally starts as a receding hairline; a thinning of hair on the crown and temples; resulting in a U-shape pattern around the head. In some rare cases, a male may end up completely bald.
The condition is genetic; caused by an abundance of the male hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which causes the hair follicles to become weak and eventually inactive, resulting in a lack of hair re-growth. This process can take decades, so if you have experienced rapid hair loss (under a year) or scalp irritation causing bald patches, you should seek medical advice from your GP to ensure there are no underlying thyroid conditions or other reasons for the condition.
